【摘要】:Thisfire-test-responsestandardprovidesameansofmeasuringmasslossandignitability,forscreeningpurposes,fromessentiallyplanarmaterials,products,orassemblies(includingsurfacefinishes),exposedtocontrolledlevelsofradiantheating,withorwithoutanexternalignitor.Thistestmethodisintendedforscreeningpurposesonly.Theprincipalfire-test-responsecharacteristicsobtainedfromthistestmethodarethoseassociatedwithmasslossfromthespecimenstested,asafunctionoftime.Timetosustainedflamingisalsodetermined.Heatreleaseis,optionally,determinedusingthermopilemeasurementsdetailedinAnnexA2.Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsobtainedfromthistestarebestusedforcomparisonsbetweenmaterialswithsomesimilaritiesincompositionorstructure.Therelationshipbetweenmasslossandheatreleasedependsonthematerial,product,orassemblytested,andnouniversalformulaexistsforcalculationofheatreleaseusingmasslossmeasurements(seealsoadditionallimitationsin5.7).Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsobtainedfromthistestmethodarealsoobtainablewiththeapparatususedinTestMethodE1354(theconecalorimeter)orinanapplicationsstandardsofthatequipment(seealso5.4).Thereferencedtestmethodspermitmeasurementsofaddedfire-test-responsecharacteristics.Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsobtainedbythistestmethodarespecifictothespecimentested,intheformandthicknesstested,andarenotaninherentpropertyofthematerial,product,orassembly.Thisfire-test-responsemethoddoesnotprovideinformationonthefireperformanceofthetestspecimensunderfireconditionsotherthanthoseconditionsspecifiedinthistestmethod.Foradditionallimitationsofthistestmethod,see5.7.UsetheSIsystemofunitsinrefereedecisions;seeIEEE/ASTMSI-10.Theunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Thistestmethodmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.SeealsoSection7.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
